The gorgeous Cucinetta opened its South Yarra doors just over 2 years ago. Since then it has become the ‘go to’ place for locals meaning regulars don’t even bother looking at the menu, instead they often trust the familiar faces of staff to choose for them!
The concept is simple:
A small blackboard menu that changes every Wednesday, always offering customers variety (however they do bring back the crowd favourites!)
Small and intimate seating a maximum of 21 people inside plus 4 outside.
And a surprisingly affordable price point (mains $19 – $24)
Owner Ben Dinning explains,
the other key component of the concept was to ensure the quality of our food was above the expectations set by our price-point. In other words, we offer the quality of a world-class gourmet Italian restaurant at the price of a “local” eatery. The tough economic climate has more than ever meant people are looking for a high value equation.
